Being an ARROJO Ambassador Salon

The ARROJO Brand is a multi-award-winning pioneer of modern, creative hairdressing. As an Ambassador Salon, we are privy to the heritage, habits, and values that make ARROJO a world-leader in salon services and product.

It means we receive training from Nick Arrojo and his illustrious team of master stylists. In cutting, coloring, styling we are trained in ARROJO’s precision-based hairdressing method –– the quality and integrity of our work is indicative of the standard of education exclusively available to us an Ambassador Salon.

Part of the ARROJO culture is to ensure the client's hair looks great every day, not just on the day of their salon service. To achieve this, the first step is the craftsmanship of the cut and/or color, which is why technique and training are so important.

The second step necessitates we act as consultants who help each client put their best image forward every day. We do this by showing you how to expertly style your hair at home, so that, rather than struggling to recreate that salon look, you can create it yourself all of the time.

Central to shaping stylish, healthy hair is product. We use ARROJO product. We pledge to provide supportive advice, tips, tricks, techniques that give you the right products for your hair type, and help you to act as your own day-to-day stylist, getting the features and benefits you want out of your style, and creating fashion-forward, beautiful hair –– right at your vanity table.

As an ARROJO Ambassador, we are immersed in a culture of excellence and integrity, and we are committed to raising standards in the hairdressing craft.

Our People

Hana Akai, Owner and Stylist

Hana Akai

Owner and Stylist

With 20 years' experience as a licensed hairstylist, I believe in continual education and strive to stay at the forefront of my field with my knowledge of new products and services available in order to provide excellent service to my clientèle. I first started my training at the London School of Hairdressing.

Over the years since I have owned "Akai Hair Design", I have done training and worked in fashion shows in Japan, New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Cuba and throughout California as well as locally throughout Vancouver Island. As an Arrojo Ambassodor salon, I have had the pleasure to be trained by Nick Arrojo himself over the past 5 years. I have also worked at Bridal Fair fashion shows, and completed advanced training from Arrojo Studios, American Crew, L'Oreal Professional Advanced Color Training, Michael O'Rourke and a number of other very accomplished barbers and hairstylists.

I am passionate about being involved in my community and have performed a number of charity fashion shows. Every year we choose a different cause. We have supported the Victoria Family Violence Society, a local family whose teenage son was battling brain cancer, Victoria women's transition house and the Quadra Village Community Centre teen program. I also cut hair at the homeless shelter and have a day where we offer free hair cuts to children of lower income families.

I have an extreme passion for what I do and love the time I get to spend with my clients.
